Makerspace Webinar

The maker movement in school libraries is about teaching out students to think for themselves, to think creatively, and to look for do-it-yourself solutions before running off to the teacher.

The maker movement in school libraries is about teaching out students to think for themselves, to think creatively, and to look for do-it-yourself solutions before running off to the teacher. Defining a makerspace can be somewhat difficult due to the differences among spaces and activities, but the emphasis is on creating with technology. STEM education (science, technology, engineering, math) has been quick to embrace these spaces and technologies.

The presenter's experience with Makerspaces has evolved from hackerspaces and Maker Faires. In this session participants will learn about Open Source computing, Raspberry Pi, Arduino as well as Virtual Worlds, Second Life, Open Sim and Minecraft.
